(More customer reviews)This is my second summer using this mower. I not only cut our yard in Georgia which is all uphill or down hill, I cut the road swale twice in the summer. The mower lays down and cuts grass and weeds like a tractor! It is more expensive to be sure but it is definitely a commercial machine. If you wanna do some serious turf cutting get the Beast! The only change I made was to call Sarlo and have them talk me through adjusting the engine speed up to increase the forward speed some.

When the mower arrived, I turned it over to look at the undercarriage and found that it was made of plastic, and that the 3/8" metal axles were pressed into flexible plastic pressure clips. The only thing holding the axles to the mower were the plastic clips, one on the end of each axle. If one of those clips broke, the machine would be unrepairable, and unusable.
I tried to return this unused item to Amazon, but I learned then that gas powered machines can not be returned. It makes sense, but I wish that I had known before I bought it. So this may help other buyers in their purchases.
Since I have the machine, I am going to try to use it, perhaps I can learn how to fix it if it breaks. It certainly is a machine that seems to have more value than to be landfill if one axle clip breaks.

After reading the operator's manual and the engine manual and assembling the mower, it was difficult to determine how best to start the mower. The MTD operator's manual declares that information is found in the engine manual. They also state that as their mower models change, the operator's manual may not fit the mower that was shipped, and that they assume no responsibility for that fact.
Further, in the engine manual, there are diagrams for 9 different engine setups, and of course Honda could have no way to determine in which manner their engines would be set up.
It seems to me that MTD should be more informative since it is their machine.
I did find that as I set the choke and then squeezed on the kill switch bar the choke went back to the off setting. However, when I pulled on the starter cord, the engine did start, and has continued to do so.
I hope this helps someone using this particular model. I think the mower will serve its purpose, and I am glad that it has the Honda engine.

(More customer reviews)I've been using this mower every week for two months now, and I am overall happy with it. The picture on this page is wrong as of the date of this review. The mower that you will get has a nice double lever console for the rear wheel drive control. The levers are very well positioned and the drive will engage with either left or right lever pulled.
The mower starts on the first pull every time. The choke system is idiot proof. One thing that stands out about this mower is the air filter. It's nothing special. It is the same filter that is on the Briggs and Stratton motor that it is replacing. The air filter on the Briggs motor would need to be cleaned twice during one lawn mowing. There is a bit more dirt and dust here, no doubt. But the same filter on the Honda motor doesn't need to be cleaned until the job is done, and even then the filter is half as dirty as one cleaning of the Briggs motor filter. I surmise that it has something to do with the position of the filter that makes it run so much cleaner on the Honda.
I don't have any regrets about buying this mower. It is doing the job and it is not difficult to operate.

(More customer reviews)This mower seems good overall - I didnt realize it had electronic start and it arrived with everything except the keys! I tracked down the manufacturer and they sent me new ones in a week or so. And the pull start works without keys so I was able to mow. It was pretty easy to assemble but it sure weighs a lot. I have never had a power drive mower before so maybe they are all heavy. It doesnt always start on the first few tries but will after 4-5 pulls usually. It cuts very well and the bagger fits on nicely.
