(More customer reviews)Got this product for my Craftsman LT1000 lawn tractor. Both the blades and the mulch plug fit well, but the blades looked "refurbished". The blades were chipped, with imperfections, poorly painted with areas that seemed like the paint was used to cover up rust. The blades were not even sharpened so I had to do that myself. They were packaged in the original sealed box, so they must have come in such conditions from the manufacturer. Not a good showing for the manufacturer.

The originals we're 2 years old and a little beat up from branches, rocks, etc. It's about $20-25 to sharpen blades so why not just buy new ones. They are identical to original blades, installed with ease and now my lawn is nice and even... Highly recommend!

(More customer reviews)Had high hopes that this would fit and work properly. I have a Ariens rider. The mulch blades fit and seem to work fine...it's the discharge cover that I have a problem with. It's obviously a universal fit piece, because it doesn't fit the discharge hole on my deck well at all. Matter of fact, after I installed this PIECE (oh and it's made to fasten to the deck with pre-installed bungee cords ...yes bungee cords), I had to add a few strips of duct tape around the gaps because grass and debris were shooting up right at me. Not sure if there is an alternate product available, but if there is, by all means try something else besides this. I 100% do NOT recommend this item.

(More customer reviews)I ORDERED THIS AND THE FIRST ONE CAME IN ABOUT 3 DAYS,THE BOX LOOKED WONDERFUL,BUT WHEN I TOOK IT OUT ON THE KITCHEN TABLE TO SEE HOW IT WENT TOGETHER,IT WAS MISSING A BRACKET,SO I EMAIL AMAZON AND THEY SAID TO RETURN IT.I RETURN IT,BUT IT TOOK ANOTHER WEEK TO GET THE REPLACEMENT,THE BOX WAS CRUSHED WHEN UPS DELIVERED IT,BUT THE PRODUCT INSIDE WAS GOOD,IT HAD ALL THE PARTS AND WENT TOGETHER REAL WELL.TOOK LONGER TO TAKE OUT OF BOX AND MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS THERE THAN TO INSTALL IT.WORKS GOOD.

Arnold OEM-190-116 38-Inch/42-Inch Mulch Kit Fits MTD Lawn Tractors 2001 & After Review

(More customer reviews)Note that though it is advertised as "Arnold", it is the MTD-brand mulch kit. Easy to install, though the instructions for the 38" deck have you trying to install it backward, which is impossible unless you start drilling a bunch of unnecessary extra holes. (That's the reason for only four stars.) Once you figure out that you need to just line up the holes the only way they fit and put in the screws, you're home free. No more big clumps of grass; no more raking! It does a very nice job on the lawn. Of course you need to follow the standard guidelines for mulching--no wet grass or super-long grass. If necessary, side discharge operation can be restored easily with the removal of a wing nut and bolt that hold the mulch plug in place. Happy mowing!
