You need to be careful when replacing the starter solenoid. Most auto solenoids are grounded through the base and can not be used.
To test if your existing solenoid is grounded through the base, use a multimeter set to resistance (Ohms) and touch the base and each of the smaller posts. If either post gives you a reading of 0 (or close to 0), it is grounded through the base.
